![]() HAMMOND LAKE CIVIC ASSOCIATION NEWSLETTERSeptember 2005
The Hammond Lake Civic Association would like to take this opportunity to update the neighborhood on several “Summer 2005” issues pertinent to us all. 1) Thanks to all of you who paid your 2005 dues of $120 this year. We still have approximately 60 households who remain unpaid. HLCA dues money is very important as it pays for all of the neighborhood upkeep that goes unnoticed… unless it went undone and then boy would you notice! 2) There was finally resolution to the “motor boat” issue based upon a ruling by the Hon. Colleen A. O’Brien! Judge O’Brien had a very clear and decisive opinion as she wrote: a) Regarding the right of HLCA to bring suit
b) Regarding the use of motors on Hammond Lake
3) Unfortunately, the neighbors who have forced this issue (at a monetary cost to us all of well over $10,000.00 and climbing), indicate that they may refuse to accept the Judgment of Oakland County Circuit Court, and may intend to appeal the judgment. Legal bills continue to mount; more money has been spent to retain counsel for an appeal. It is important that the entire neighborhood is aware of who the few dissenting neighbors are according to papers received from their attorney: -Jack and Carolyn Shields -Bryant and Karen O’Dwyer -Eric and Patricia Morrison -Timothy and Deborah Mayer -Eric and Diane Olsen -Walter Eisenberg -Louis and Carol DeGennaro If any of these people are your friends, please ask them to stop dividing our neighborhood; the cost is high no matter how you count it. 4) Due to the excessive legal bills for the motor issue and the extra cost of insurance for the fireworks this year, the HLCA budget is approximately $6,000 short. If all of the families who have not yet paid their 2005 dues would kindly send a check in the enclosed envelope, we would at least have a chance to break even for the year. Your $120 has been spent planting, mowing, weeding, fixing and cleaning all around you every day, making Hammond Lake Estates the most wonderful place we know of to live!!! Attached please find a list of those who paid 2005 dues and those who contributed to the Fireworks Fund. Please let us know if there are any discrepancies for your name! Attachments Lake QualityDear Member; Your Association tests Hammond Lake water quality weekly from Memorial Day thru Labor Day. At least six samples from various areas of Hammond Lake are gathered by Board Member Darrin Hibbs and processed by Frank McLaughlin’s company, Micro Biological Associates, Inc., of Farmington Hills. Frank reports results back to the Association President every Tuesday morning. I am pleased to report that our lake quality test numbers have continued to fall and that the most recent weeks testing results are the lowest parts per million test results in the history of water quality testing on Hammond Lake. This is great news and the result of responsible septic system management and not fertilizing our lawns. Thanks all! Thomas E. Campau (Pres.) P.S. Keep up the good work. Don’t forget… that the annual end of Summer Corn Roast is scheduled for Sunday, September 25th at 2:00. Bring a smile and a dish to pass, hot dogs, hamburgers and corn are provided!
We want to thank the 91 families that supported this year’s fireworks, many of you with generous multiple donations.
