![]() HAMMOND LAKE CIVIC ASSOCIATION NEWSLETTERSPECIAL “After FIREWORKS” EDITIONJULY 2005
Spectacular, Stupendous, Stunning... and loud too! The 2005 Hammond Lake Fireworks Extravaganza went off seemingly without a hitch... but behind the scenes it took a LOT of hard work prior to the event to make it all happen. This year Bloomfield Township pitched us a last minute curve ball when they insisted we show proof of insurance for $9,000,000 before they would release the permit. We were not informed of this rule change until it was too late to back out or regroup. At 2:30pm, Thursday June 30, at a cost of $4,800, we procured a policy and our permit was released. Because we still had not yet collected a sufficient amount to cover the total cost of the fireworks, we found ourselves $8,800 in the red. If you held a party, watched from the beach or your own backyard and you had a BLAST... please send a check today to finish paying for the party! The future of the event depends upon your response. An envelope is enclosed... please respond by sending your donation today. Make checks payable to: HLCA/Fireworks Fund. FRANK McLAUGHLIN… HAMMOND LAKE "MAN OF THE SUMMER"! Frank McLaughlin, our "Fireworks Wizard" did it again! One full year of plotting and planning, hauling, organizing, wiring, canister placing and more, which he does with very little help (though a special thank you also goes out to Franks boys, Tom Campau and his boys, Rich Schreck and all others who found their way to Franks home last Sunday) and the fabulous fireworks show went on. Frank has devoted himself to this neighborhood in so many ways over and over again. Please take a moment to recognize Frank next time you see him, to thank him for all that he does for this community. FYI... Frank says that next year we need volunteers for the hauling and hard work part prior to the event and for breakdown the day after. A sign up sheet will be available at the May 2006 Annual Meeting for event helpers before and after Fireworks 2006! Corn RoastThe annual fall association barbecue, corn roast, and social gathering is scheduled for Sunday, September 25th from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Bring a dish to share if you wish. We provide hamburger, hot dogs, chips and drinks along with corn. Dan Klempner is the “Chef of Record” and can be contacted @ 338-6844. This was a great event last year with record attendance. A good time was had by all… don’t miss it this year! DIRECTORY It’s almost time to publish an updated Hammond Lake Estates Directory. If you received this newsletter, you will be included in the directory. In an effort to stay accurate, take a look at the envelope this newsletter came in. Call any board member if your name was misspelled, or if it was sent it to a former resident. If you are new, give us a call so we can welcome you to the neighborhood. LAKE WATER QUALITY Testing is being done with weekly samples taken from six various locations. Reports continue to look very good. Keeping septic systems maintained, and not putting fertilizer into the lake, is the best ways to keep it clean. KEYS 2005 KEYS are your pass to the Civic Association beach property. If you were unable to attend a meeting, and need a key, contact Carla Johnson at 338-7798. Reminder: If you haven’t sent in your 2005 dues yet, please take a moment to do it now.
